we had one of those at my one job i was at for 10 years. it was the 'shredder'. not nearly as big or powerful as that though. we used to crush drums full of stuff that we were going to feed into our furnace, usually batteries. i know guys that threw old car gas tanks and wheels in it just to get rid of them. i'm sure there was other stuff thrown in there that i never heard about but it would chew stuff up pretty good and would often spit pieces back out. we had a rubber curtain on it but it would catch on fire quite often so much of the time there was no curtain. had to be careful walking by it as large pieces would come flying out. and it would jam at least once a day so whoever was running it had to do a LOTO and climb in there and clean it out
