We had an old 51 Studebaker that was hard to find the right replacement blades for ... We used a bunch of old tube socks for blades till we found the one that would fit ..

I actually did that once to get me to a place where I could buy a length of tubing to replace a rotted vacuum hose on a '47 Oldsmobile. How many remember vacuum windshield wipers. You would floor the gas to pass a truck that was giving off spray and you wipers slowed to a crawl.

Edit:: Add that it also had vent windows to pass the masons twine I used through.

I hope you didn't run out of socks and decided to use other undergarments.
