USAF, me and two sisters $5.38 total . The only one who made any money on the births was the anesthetist and that was their total . 1953,1956, 1959 .

Don't know about me, but my daughter now age 10, was an at-risk pregnancy born by c-section at 36 weeks 6 days (technically a preemie by one day) with a possible heart defect. She spent a week in the NICU plus my wife having to recover from the c-section for 5 days. Luckily the heart defect turned out to be a false alarm, and thankfully I had great insurance that covered all but $250 of the bill. I totaled up the EOB's once just for kicks. $235000.00 or thereabouts.

not exactly sure "why" I covered my Mother's name and our address back then? am not Donald Trump!!!!! But times sure have changed... In contrast, I still have the 1959 Hamilton wrist watch my mother bought my dad at GEX for $65... keep it wound and it loses 1 second in a month
They probably had insurance, no way of knowing now.

Lol ok taxpayers pay it so we all end up paying but we don't get a bill why the us is so hesitant to adopt this form of Healthcare is beyond me it raises taxes yes .
And for those saying it's a socialist communist way of doing things the us is already doing this with their fire and police service their both funded by taxes right when you call for fire or police they don't ask if you have insurance first right no they come they do their job and they don't leave you stuck with a bill that could bankrupt you

Well I don't know what it cost for my birth, but I suppose it was a real bargain. But I do remember when I was young asking my mother for a dollar if I were good. And she replied saying "why can't you be good for nothing like your father".

According to one inflation calculator in today's money that's equivalent to $1022.10.

regardless inflation value, I've shown that bill mostly for shock value. Showed to an X girlfriend once and she said "if I were your mother and received that bill, I would have insisted they take you back!!!!

I guess I can't be worth much being born during the WAR years. Yes, the big one. I think they needed another mouth to feed so they could get sugar stamps.

I 1996, I paid a whopping $25.00 for my Son,and then in 1997 I paid a total of $35.00 for my daughter. Told both of them that I had free and clear title on their butts until they turned 18. At 15, had to remind my son that the recruiters could take him at 16 under DEP and he might not make it to 18 if he didnt quit sassing his mom.
