Need help with broken trailer tongue

sure but he suggested using a hitch pin and making it telescopic... the material isn't thick enough to pin as it will hammer and oblong the hole and very likely crack...

I'd even go one step further. Because the tongue material is substantially thinner than anything in a receiver hitch, I'd be worried about it acting like a metal press break in an emergency stop. The tongue could end up shearing the pin into 3 pieces.

Gotcha. It was just a thought. Looking back at his break and looking and some of the commercial telescopic trailer tongues I see there is a pretty big difference.
