I just found an Escort boat trailer. The lenght from one end to the other is 22 feet, it is build out of galvanize 3 inch by 4 inch and have tandem wheels but I can't find the id plate so I would like to know if anyone here can tell me the max boat lenght and max boat weight that this trailer might support.

Thanks for your help.

Can't say for sure but you can guess by looking at the axles, see if it has a plate on them.

Or to guess, if it has 1 to 1.5 inch axles their around 1500 pounds each. If they are 2 inch diameter axles there around 2700 to 3500 pounds each. Add the low side together and subtract weight of trailer.
1500 x 2 - 800 = 2200
2700 x 2 - 1000 = 4400

Now if you remove the hubs and measure the spindle diameter we can get closer.

First I want to thank you very much AllDodge for your reply.

After further search it seem to be a BT22GAB-X

The axles are 2 inch so according to your response the trailer should be good for up to 4400 lbs which is what I need. My boat is a Penn-Yan Avenger with a flying bridge so weighting around 4000 lbs. It is a 23 feet mesured at waterline and it has an inboard motor so the stern have to protrude from the back of the trailer then this trailer should be also right.

No that trailer is not long enough for that boat

You need to be looking for a longer trailer

Also a flybridge boat 23' at the water line... That's what a 26'er.... Probably weighs a lot more than 4k..... My 26' Carver flybridge was close to 6k

My boat is a Penn Yan 23ft and the overall lenght is a little less than 25 feet. The weight, according to the information that I have, is around 5000 lbs but some fellows with same boat told me that they are using a trailer good for 4500 and that they never had any problem.

I have found some information on internet saying that the hub/drum are good for 1850 lbs, so if I understand well this mean that they can support a total of 7400 lbs. For the lenght I understand that I might have to lenghten the sides by 3 to 4 feet so I will have to see that with my nefew which is a professionnal welder.

Thanks again for the information guys, That help me understand more how the whole thng work.

I had a SINGLE axle escort trailer for a few years. I kept a 21ft glass jet boat. When I did the bearing in it last summer the bearings were actually for a 5200lb axle. I found this out by part numbers on the old bearings / and measurements. Never messed with a double axle, but I hope this is somewhat helpful.

I don't know... that feels small to me. Not sure where you live, but up around the Chicagoland area there seems to be a lot of 23-25' trailers to be had. I think I'd do a little more leg work and find a bigger trailer
