Bracket for Ratchet Strap Help

There are two problems I can forsee in using the existing holes: they are already used for thumb screws to secure the pull out light board poles and secondly their size. I think the holes are approximately 16mm diameter so the eye bolts would have to be huge which might mean I can't get the correct sized spanner inside to hold the nut. If I went to a smaller size bolt say 12mm then would the slop be too much?

When I get chance I have a good look over it and measure different options up. Will report back.

soooo replace your "thumb screws" with eye bolts..... same diameter, same length..... put in your lights, tighten down the eye bolts, and hook up your transom straps.... done deal......
