Anyone using a weight distribution hitch that is compatible with surge brakes? I currently use the old-school chain style which technically are not surge brake compatible but with a little tinkering and a lot of tests in my driveway, I was able to make them work. Eventually, I'm thinking of converting my surge actuator with an electric one but wanted to see the experience people have had with surge compatible brakes.

I looked into equalizer hitches. They are quite pricey. Almost as pricey as a decent electric actuator for disk brakes, which is why I'm considering making the switch. Did you switch the unit out yourself? How painful was it? Any recommendations on electric actuators and brake controllers? How did you secure your surge actuator?

I took the guts out of it and use 2 large bolts to keep the sliding insert from moving.

I have the Titan unit and I use the Tekonsha P3 controller.
