Need a new trailer for a 1985 Bass Tracker TX tournament aluminum boat.
The width at the back bottom of the boat is 50", the top back width is 72" and the total length is 16.5 ft. from the tip of the front to the transom.
My question is what size trailer do I need? I have seen ads on CL for 16 ft. and 18 ft. trailers, some say they are adjustable.
Not sure which to look for, Do I buy a longer trailer or try to convert a 16 ft. trailer?
I know I sound like a real newbie here and I am.

HELP

Should have said "Used Trailer" for the boat.

General rule of thumb is that the minimum measured trailer length should be 110% of the measured boat length from transom to tip of bow.

Do not buy a trailer any shorter than that.

Yes some trailer are adjustable in length.... On them the to hue can be slid in or out to fit the boat.

Some people extend the bunks in the back to fit a larger boat... This is a BAD idea as the extended bunks do almost nothing to support the boat.

last.... If you can get a trailer with adjustable a le position (ie not welded) you will be better off as you will be able to properly set up tongue weight.
