Trailer Dudes...Question.
The weight of my 18' Starcraft rig is in a tricky spot.
1975 NADA guide: says #850 for the hull.
My '70Hp Rude is around #220 however I'll eventually upsize to a V4 ...putting me in the mid-3's for the O/B.
I figure the TeeNee trailer (being restored here) I'm guessing will weigh in the #400 range :noidea:
We're starting to approach the 1-ton mark factoring in gear, fuel, beer coolers, etc.
The trailer sticker says max load capacity of 2.5 tons --> this is somewhat irrelevant since I'm rebuilding but I think the DMV would want to know how much to GOUGE me for registration
Do you guys see any drawbacks of going with a 3500# axle? It seems like I can't go wrong going with a bigger axle.
I can always go with the 2x1500# springs to get SOME suspension...maybe a tad overkill but not as bad as the 5-leaf monsters that came off of this trailer.
your thoughts? 3500# Axle + 2x1500# springs?
