Here we go again another boating issue

Months ago I caught a deal ( so I thought ) on a Tie Down model 66 brake actuator
Generally these sell over 150 dollars and was on clearance at a marine box store for $ 89.00
Better yet on manufacturer box it clearly says for drum or disk brakes
Thought great, I was planning on changing over too disk and my present brake actuator needed master cylinder so this was a perfect purchase and can do brake job at my leisure.

This week I decided too tackle brakes .
Calling some of the online trailer distributors such as E trailer and Eastern Trailer they both indicated a brake actuator can
not do both its either drum or disk .
I said mine does and all I have too do is adjust a check valve on master cylinder
GETTING NO WERE I called Tie Down Tech Support
Explaining too tech , I am not a mechanic ( weekend warrior ) but as a consumer info on box is very
confusing. I purchased this unit thinking it had an option with an adjustment too handle disk or drum .

They must have received other complaints from consumers as they were helpful
They offered me at wholesale cost Tie Down Drum brakes complete assembly all 4 drum plus shipping

SO my question is a basic Titan 10 " with reverse lock out, a complete assembly, ( 4 ) for two axles is $ 195.00
Or Tie Down basic same as above (4) for two axles is $ 250.00
E trailer includes free shipping
Tie down add 40 for shipping

Salt is not kind too boat trailers and after a short time will they both rust the same or is Tie Down a much better product
and will hold up in the long run ?
Every few years I have too change anyway

Another issue is law bit confusing, I tow a 21 ft boat that weights 3800, trailer is rated 4500
Law says anything towed over 3000 lbs requires brakes ,
I have 2 axles, does law require brakes on all axles ? or brakes is brakes and one axle covers ?

Happy Boating

most dual axles have breaks on one axle... I installed tie down surge breaks on my single axle hauling 20ft cuddy...3000lb ballpark... they work well.. I have no complaints with Tie Down products...

Ayuh,.... Ya better check the aft axle to see if it's got a brake mountin' flange, or Not,...

Without the flange, yer gonna have to be happy with 1 axle brakes,...

Personally, If I had to pick between the two company's products, I would pick Titan. I feel their products are higher quality. I had a tie-down stainless disc system and threw it in the trash after one season.

A disc brake master cylinder does not have a residual valve where a drum brake one does. If you have a drum brake master cylinder you can adapt it to discs but not the other way around.
