I have dismantled my 1956 Gator trailer. It's ready to sandblast and powder coat. Does anyone have a handle on the correct yellow and red? I have reviewed all of the old brochures, photos of others and the argument that the trailers were once manufactured in the same facility as school buses and should match the 1950's version of safety yellow. Attached is a selection of the sample colors. There was some clean yellow between the frame sections that looks to be close to the lightest shade. Does anyone have any reference material to help? Thanks-

Re: correct colors for gator trailer

My Gator trailer has red wheels under the hubcaps - with "gator" stamped into the steel.
Rest of trailer is black.
Interesting trailer, I suspect it is a tilt model with some strange levers at the rear corners.
Also worth a comment is the support structure for bow winch - is curious.
I'll post pics tomorrrow.

Here's a curious section. SOme sort of tilt? - with chain for a limiter.

I really like this "trussed" look. Strength from design.

Here's the "half covered wheel well" design that I have never seen before

And the hubcaps. gotta love em.

This one still has its original paint on it and it didn't spend much time in the sun in its life. The wheels obvoiusly have have been changed. It was a light yellow; not a school bus yellow.

I could be wrong but if you match the color of the brand logo then that should be the exact match to the original color used, so match the yellow back ground color behind the gator in picture #3 you posted showing the brand logo.
