Need Tire help/advice wearing out the outside treads of the tires!!

Situation:
BayStealth 1888 CC Bayboat Yamaha 115 4 stroke Single Axle galv. trailer

Approximate Tow Weight...3500 +/- lbs.

Tire size 205/75 R 14 bias ply ---- I'm pushing the max load on these I think!

I run them at the max air pressure (50 psi) and I am still wearing the outside tread down before the middle.

Would a radial tire alleviate this problem? If not what should I do?

Your trailer is running out of alignment. You can have it aligned or dig into it and fix it your self.

outside? or inside AND outside.... if the latter then you need a higher rated tire (and possibly higher everything else too) to take the weight

If you have low tongue weight, adjusting it higher will reduce weight on the tires....

If it's the former then you likely have a bent axle

Yep sorry about that....Outside AND Inside wear....like an under inflation issue, I think I am pushing the weight limit but thats the set up that came with the boat from the factory. It has been a chronic problem, I think we are on the 3rd set of tires, I don't recall what the deal was with the 1st set but the 2nd set was a case of going too cheap with car tires and KABOOM the blew because of too much air pressure. This set of tires are bias ply trailer tires and like I said max pressure. I don't think it is a bad parts problem just a too much weight issue. I expect that going to a 15" wheel and a 65 PSI 8 ply would do the trick but that would require a good bit of cost and modifications

Load rating is right on the side of the tire. You probably should step up to a D rated trailer tire at 3500lbs

Yep, the problem is finding a 14" tire with a D rating...lots of 15" available but I am having a hard time locating any 14" D's

To get a 14" in a D rating you really need to go with a light truck tire. Oddly enough you can get 13" tires in a D range, which is what I run on my trailer.

I switched my 14 inch C tires from bias ply to radial for the same reason and so far they are wearing very nicely and give me a very nice trailer pull (20 foot Chapparal 5.0L at about 3K total boat/trailer weight). Went with the new formula Carlisles.
I could not find a 14 inch D tire either..... (at least not in my price range)

I switched to 14 inch C radials also. I also had them balanced, makes a difference.

I guess I am missing some thing, bias or radials if the tires are wearing the outside and the inside on the other side it wont make one bit of difference what tires is on it, its out of alignment.

Pretty sure that he is saying that both tires are wearing on the inside and outside faster than in the center.

Still tho radial vs bias isn't the answer
Get the trailer weighed and make sure your next set of tires (and springs,axles, frame) are rated for the weight.

I'll say it again... go WEIGH the rig... buying tires for a trailer without knowing the weight is about as smart as buying shoes without knowing your size

Well those listed were $139.00 each shipped, the others were 100 but there would be almost 70.00 in shipping. The last time I bought 14" C ranges they were about $70 so about half of what it would cost for those from Norther Tool
