I've got 12" wide bunk carpet for 2X4 bunks, which, by measurement are 11" around the edges (3.5X2 plus 1.5X2). Is one inch of overlap OK? My carpet is a good quality rubber backed indoor outdoor.

Thanks all.

I was using leftover pieces when I did mine, so it only goes part way down. Not much to look at but does the job, it's just how nice you want it to look.

I am sure its a personal thing but I use PT 2 x 4`s and wrap them in a heavy sheeting plastic. I have a pontoon boat so I dont the PT chemicals leaching through to the alum hull. Then wrap in carpet like and leave a 1/2 gap in the carpet on the lowest corrner to aid draining and I use galvinized roofing nails to hold it in place

if your in salt water, use Monel stapels or galvanized roofing nails. the overlap doesnt matter.
