What length staple do you guys use when fastening bunk carpet. West Marine seems to have the SS staples available only in the 3/8 inch length. Is that long enough for reliable fastening?

yes that's long enough. Staples won't pull out too quick.

Also, I like to drive the staples in a little further in spots where there are extra layers of carpet, such as on the ends. Really seems to seat them well. You can just use a claw hammer or Kleins.

Yea 3/8" will work if your carpet is paper thin. How many Oz is your carpet??

Staples seem to pull out on me and I've gone to roofing felt nails

I just replaced my bunks (and carpet). The old ones had 3/8" staples, and never came out. I replaced with 3/8" staples and it seemed to work well.
