Hi,

Recently bought a boat/motor/trailer package to use as a 'donor' for a boat that I am building. The windshield will be perfect fit, and the trailer will suit the 'retro classic' style of boat that I am building.

Now this trailer definitely seems to be a 'Gator', since that name is forged into the crank side plate. I would like some assistance in trying to determine what year it is.

In all the searching I have done here and elsewhere I have never seen one quite like it, particularly the way the tubular frame curves so gently from the side into the middle, as opposed to a more 90 degree curve that I've seen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 'Gator' Trailer

The Gator that I have is made from C channel and the best I can find on mine is that it's an early to mid 60s model. I can see many simularities between yours and mine. My best guess would be 1950s to maybe 1960.

Somewhere on the front of the trailer may be a VIN # stamped in.
