winch replacement on a Shorelander trailer

I have a Shorelander Profile 2000, and the winch has rusted and does not lock anymore. I need to replace it. I removed the arm in which it is installed, but cannot seem to get the screw that holds it in the arm to come out. Anybody got any ideas? I have hammered the crap out of it in case it rusted and that did not knock it loose. It almost seems it was built in to the arm and I need a whole new arm assembly to get it replaced. Any help would be great.

I have always had to remove the spool portion of the winch to get to the last bolt on mine, but post a pic since I can't say if this is your problem or not.

Unless there is something special about the design you don't need to remove the spool to replace a winch. Remove two bolts and pitch the old winch. Install the new one. You get a new handle with it.
