what year/engine is it? some of them are rated up to 9100 lbs. but it all depends. You should even be able to find out what your exact model is capable of.

6500lb boat with trailers, gas, water and other typical stuff would easily exceed 8000lb mark. I would not feel comfortable with Armada?.. You would need at least a latest ? ton truck but still pushing your luck?.. Typical ? ton trucks/SUVs would be ideal.

That's a BIG boat. That kind of weight will vastly affect the handling of the truck, mileage of the truck, ability to stop and start, as well as wear and tear on the vehicle.

6500 lbs for a 2wd without towing package, 9000 lbs with towing package. if you had the towing package you would be fine, but without you would be waaay over 6500 after you had neccessary fuel and gear in the boat. I would definitely not do it.

Read your owners manual and find out what the towing capacity is on the Nissan. If the boat weight is 6500 lbs and you fill it up with fuel and all your equipment your thin looking at at least a total weight of about 8500 to 9000 lbs. And if you add in fresh water tanks the weight goes up even more. You might be over your tow limit.

Re: Towing 28 ft Boat 6500 pounds?????

My 1 ton Ford F-350 pulls my 28' 6500 lbs boat just fine (6500 lbs, not including trailer, gas, and equipment), but when the axle on the truck broke (due to a bad wheel bearing) and I had to get the boat home with my friend's Chevy 2500 3/4 ton pickup you could feel the boat pushing the truck around at speeds above 45 MPH. It helps that my truck weighs almost what the boat and trailer weighs. You really should not get close to your vehicles towing weight. Just because they say it can tow 9000 lbs doesn't mean you can tow 9000 lbs at highway speeds.

It wouldn't want to use anything less than a 1 ton pickup if you're going to make a habbit out of towing it long distances. I'd imagine towing it around town that the Nissan would be ok, but it sure is going to be hard on it. I hope your ramp isn't too steep if all you have is 2WD.

Getting a cheap 4x4 tow vehicle wouldn't be a bad idea. It's easy to find a cheap and dependable early 90's 4x4 truck.

Do not go over your towing weight. That is very dangerous. You could loose control or loose the ability to stop. Do yourself a favor and get a cheap tow vehicle. It's easy to find them right now. I got my 1 ton Ford just to pull my big boat.

The boat/trailer weight is NOT the only thing that needs to be considered. The wheelbase, suspension and transmission of the Armada needs to be closely looked at too. A tow vehicle with a short wheelbase has the potential to "create" some tense moments while towing. Like rs2k, I bought a 3/4 ton Suburban just to tow the boat.

Re: Towing 28 ft Boat 6500 pounds?????

My buddy has a 28' boat with an aluminum tri-axle trailer. truck stop scale was 10,500#.
My boat/trailer combo weighs about 7500 loaded. I am towing with an Expedition, 4X4, H/D tow package, and rated at 8600# tow weight. ( with equalizer hitch)
Trailer has 4 wheel disk brakes and tortion suspension. Tows so smooth, that you can actually forget its beghind you at hi-way speeds.
The Armada with 6500# towing weight, I would suggest a 22-24' boat.
Not only will you damage the vehicle by towing overweight, Its endangering yourself and others, may be illegal, and for sure, the insurance company you have will not pay claims.
