I currently have a Bayliner Trophy 16ft. and a 2001 Escort trailer with 480x12 tires. I,m concerned there is to much boat for a long trip. Should I look for a different trailer?

No need. My 13' Boston Whaler made three round trips from The Hideout to Angle Outpost on Lake Of The Woods on 520x12 tires. 3,000 miles per round trip.

I did have 13" wheels on the trailer for the 17' Whaler. Five round trips.

The trailer seems OK. You didn't say what the boat and motor weighed. I'd say the only weak side is the tires. Maybe upgrade to 5.30x12 for better load rating.

I used to have 5.30X12 trailer tires....went to WallyMart and got 12" radials and they were even ST(special Trailer) rated for approx $20 each and that included mounting/balancing!!
What a difference in the way it towed!! Much smoother and the tires barely got warm
Been watching for similar deal for the new rig!!

I recommend radial tires on all trailers. Run much cooler in the summer and they don't flat spot when they sit.
