Pulling my 1998 Larson Flyer 166 with a Nissan Pathfinder (5k towing capacity) which means I need to upgrade to a heavier boat. ;)

I installed a hitch on my 2011 Subaru Forester and have been pleasantly surprised with how easily it tows my 16' Lowe.

How does it do pulling the boat out of the water at the ramp? I have a '14 Outback with manual transmission. I've been considering using to tow my boat longer distances, but worried about the extra load on the drivetrain when at the ramp.

My Lowe Skorpion with trailer is about 1900 lbs. and I usually tow it with my 4 banger Tacoma 4x4. The Subie is rated to tow 2700 lbs.

Thanks!!

No problem pulling out of the water at all, I assume due to the AWD. I've launched in lakes, rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay and towed up to 4 hours one way. My boat and trailer are definitely lighter than yours though, probably closer to 1200lbs. Just took it down to a lake for some bass fishing last week.

Good ole American steel cruisers right there :thumb:

Both have the 2nd Generation LT1s, factory tow packages(cooling, suspension, transmission shifting, 2.93 posi in the Buick, 3.42 open diff with traction control in the Cadillac). 175,000 miles the Buick, 7,500 miles on the Cadillac

Not many of us guys left that like heavyweight vehicles with powerful V8s. My wife loves her Buick Lucerne CXS with the 4.6L Northstar V8 but it kind of looks small compared to your cars.

You can't compare the Lucerne with either car. The Lucerne is FWD, they are RWD.

1985 sea ray 197 Monaco and other boats in the past. Either my 2016 ram 1500 5.7 hemi or 1987 dodge ramcharger depending on how I feel and if I want to wake the dead with the ramcharger exhaust.
