Just because an older trailer looks OK

I repacked the wheel bearings and rewired the lights and hit the road....Never expected both axles and the tongue to fail from rust.

that is a common failure, especially when dipping in salt

I bet there was some serious puckering when that happened.

Ahhh, I don't think I'd say that either of those "looked ok". They both looked about to fail if you ask me....

I doubt very much I would have been repacking the bearing on a drum that looked that the one in the pic. I find it difficult to believe the pitted mess of the axle went unnoticed.

Yes they looked OK. Not as pitted as they look in the picture, mostly surface rust. The problem was on the inside.
