Ok guys, I bought a new rig this summer, has a tandum trailer, which of course has safety chains, also another cable, which I have no idea what it
dose or is for, can anybody help. Trailer dose have brakes.
The small cable is for applying the trailer brakes if the trailer becomes unhooked. Connect it to the receiver, usually where one of the safety chains is hooked up.
Most likely the break away cable. You didn't mention electric or surge brakes. Anyway, the cable will activate the brakes should the trailer become uncoupled. Electric brakes are activated via a switch and a small battery should the trailer become uncoupled. Surge brakes will activate by the cable jamming the master cylinder in an engaged position.
