Trailer bunks: do they have to extend beyond the transom?

Hey Guys

I want to put some trim tabs on my 15' Larson, but the bunks extend about 3" past the transom when the boat is all the way on the trailer. Is it OK to cut the bunks a little bit shorter so that they end just short of the transom? The trailer also has rollers under the keel.

Even or just past is fine ...

Longer is ok but never shorter! It can generate a hook in the bottom over time, and ruin the hull.... When tabs are retracted they should be aprox 3/4" above the bottom so long bunks should be fine....

leave 3/4" sticking out. Mine stick out about 2" and no issues with my tabs
