Selling Trailer -- How do I come up with a price?

I recently bought a 1998 Maxum 2700 SCR. It came with a nice Calkins trailer, but I am permanently keeping it in a slip at the local harbor. I am going to sell the trailer because I have no use for it and I have nowhere to store it. The surveyor's report gave the trailer a value of $8,000, but I know that is just ridiculous. How do I come up with a realistic price?20160505_172308_resized.jpg20160505_172354_resized.jpg20160505_172430_resized.jpg20160505_172421_resized.jpg

If it was me, you have to look at the completion and then add/subtract features and condition. Then just decide if you want a quick sail ( spelling intended ) or wait it out.
For instance , brand new Rocket aluminum tandem trailer withave 4 Kodiak disk brakes, SS hardware, let's etc is 5400.
So, hunt Craigslist, eBay, boat trader, iboats, etc and compare.

Good luck.

I think selling it would be a mistake.
What happens when you need a trailer? And you will need a trailer, unless the boat is going to be in the water at that location until you die.

I don't really have a choice. The 35' trailer will not fit on my side yard or even my driveway and I am not willing to pay $100+ per month to store it. It is in a friend's front yard right now and that is only a temporary solution.

Maybe check around some boat dealers and/or marinas to help you establish a price and possible buyers....offer them 10% of sale price for their efforts....

Boats almost always eventually need a trailer. Modify to a swing away tongue and maybe it'll fit somewhere or be less then 100/mo storage. W/out some work, you won't get as much for a used trailer w/ bunks, rollers and fenders showing their age.

Thanks Bondo. I will get the tire size today. I didn't see a sticker with model or capacity information. Is there anything on the registration that can get me to the capacity?

Bondo was right. I finally listed it last week and sold it yesterday for $2750. Thanks for the help everyone.
