Should this unit slide in completly when doing a normal stop ?
Unit is 8 yrs old just bled the brakes 2 days ago there is pressure when my partner pushes the actuator in as much as he can...

No it should not. If it does and you already bled the brakes, your master cylinder may be bad.

You have drum brakes and have you adjusted them so they just slightly drag?
