1978 Newport surprise

Help, I just pulled this out of 13 years of storage and it's in pretty good shape. everything is there but one small thing, the tiller is missing! I've found several pictures on line but can't seem to find any actual measurements. Anyone know of a link or have one I can get some measurements and pictures of?

Seems like you could just start with a 1x1 or a closet rod, and sit in the boat and see how long it needs to be. the original most likely wasn't something fancy...
