Sea Rayder 175 jet pump help please

Working on a 1997 sea rayder with the merc 175 and jet drive.

I have no propulsion and I can spin the lower drive shaft by hand. Am I right to assume a drive shaft is broken or a gear stripped? It was running about 50 mph, lost power and engine revved sky high. The engine still runs fine.

Also, will I be able to pull the jet pump assembly while on the trailer? There's only a few inches for it to drop down. Anything else I should look for?

Major project... You will need to unbolt the engine from the pump, and both lift the engine out as well as drop the pump out the bottom at the same time. I don't think it is possible to just remove the pump without the engine also coming out.

Did you check the level of the lube in the jet pump? Just wondering why the failure.Steve.
