a compression test is a good place to start. the number isn't really critical. somewhere 120-150's depending on the gauge. what is more important is that there shouldn't be more than a 10-15% difference among the 3 jugs. if the compression is good and the gas is fresh, then there is a good chance that all you need is a carb rebuild. there are little filters in the carbs that can get clogged, particularly with old gas that sat untreated. unfortunately, for that model the carbs are a little bit of a pain to get to.
