1996 sea doo gti key problems

Hi Boaters, When the round start key is placed on the mounting I get the warning beeps indicating power and warn buzzers functioning but when I press the starter button I frequently get only clicks at I presume the selonoid/starter. I then press and turn the key till she starts. This has not left me stranded yet . Just replaced battery with factory recommended. Is this a key issue or in starter???? Any input appreciated.. Thanks

Suggested in forum to clean contacts inside key and post, it fired up 7x in a row, take her out tomorrow for final results--appears good. I boats forever....have been a member 3 yrs, keep screwing up username and password so back to cadet.... Oh. Cleaned with pencil eraser.
