i have a boat that only goes 38 mph at 5200 rpm and hull shot is not good at all. I feel the boat can go faster. Has a 115 evinrude. Any suggestions are appreciated.

One more thing we need is the prop size? You might hafta take it off to find the numbers, it shouldn't be very hard to do.

The prop sounds about right, you need to go over your engine,,, You should get about 6,000rpm out of it.

More info on your rig would be helpful. Year of boat/motor. What kind of prop by brand/material.

How is the motor mounted on the boat? What is the prop shaft/pad measurement?

Right now, you're showing 19% slip; should be 9-10% for that type of boat.

A 19 pitch SS prop might be about usual for that boat, but should generate 43-47 mph at that rpm.

What year is the motor?
Your lack of power could be as simple as the throttle not opening all the way.
Does the boat respond to up trim? Does it seem light on its feet or does it seem like it is struck to the water?
Is the bottom clean and smooth?
Does it have good compression? Is it in excellent tune?
Is there a hydrofoil on the motor?
