I finally gave up on my 90hp motor that I just could not get to work on my boat. I got an '86 Mercury XR2 150 for a great deal and will be putting it on my 18' Bayliner Capri bowrider. Anyone run this motor on a similar boat and what prop do you use? The guy had it on a bass boat, so it came with a stainless 25p Quicksilver prop.

Anyone? I ordered a 17" pitch stainless prop yesterday, but I am thinking maybe that is too small? I am not concerned with going 60 mph, i would rather be able to do 30-40 and get good fuel economy for cruising...

There will be several people come on here and give you advice. But we really need to know what rpm you are running at WOT. I would definitely say 25p is too much. More like 19p. Can't tell without more info.

I am installing the motor this week. I need a starting point, the 25p prop on there now is pretty beat up and not worth the time to even see how it performs. So I need a starting point and was hoping someone else on here has a similar boat/motor combo and could tell me what works for them. I hate just throwing money out to buy a prop and have it not work... Boat is an 1990 Bayliner Capri Bowrider 18'.
