I have a 1994 mercury 200 offshore . the prop thats on it is an aluminum 3 blade the only numbers i can find on it are
19 16 19. its on a 1994 22' robalo, seems to get on plane good, tops out about 38-40 5500 rpm, with full tank and 3 people and all our crap. fuel economy seems to be about 2-3 miles per gallon, not sure if thats good or bad. i was going to buy a spare prop or maybe a stainless steel prop and keep the aluminum for a spare but dont know what i have, or if its even the correct one for the combination that i have. help?

Re: 1994 mercury 200 offshore prop size?

There should be a million prop shops in FL.
Pull if off and take it in and see what they say it is. Then ask if they have a loaner prop you can test to see how it performs. Once you find one you like then you can decide.
If they dont have loaners, then tell them all the info you can about how your boat runs and see what they recommend.
While I dont know your boat, id guess a good pitch would be a 23p 3 blade SS. But that only a guess using the HP only.

While those numbers don't compute, the Mercury prop selector does come up with a recommendation for your boat.

Using a dry weight of 3600lbs, 800lbs of people/gear, and 50 gal of gas; the MPS calculates a weight of 4685lbs and recommends a 17 pitch prop(15 X 17) and calculates that it should run 41.5 mph at 5300 rpm.

For ease of shopping; your Merc 200 uses the same props as a Mercruiser Alpha/Bravo 1 stern drive.

Use a 15 inch diameter(minimum) prop for best performance on your boat. Solas makes a 15-1/2 X 17 aluminum Amita prop that should perform well on your boat.

If you remove the prop nut and washer, there should be numbers stamped on the hub; something like 15 X 17, 15-1/2 X 18, etc.

Given that your motor can turn 5500 rpm with the 14.5 X 19, I would try a Solas Amita 15-3/10 X 19. The extra diameter will work more efficiently with your weight and drop your rpm about 200; still well within the recommended range of 5000-5600.

Your high slip number(25%) is mostly caused by too little diameter.

As you found out, a 15 x19" prop is way to large for that boat. A Stiletto 14.25 x 17" or even a 14.25 x 15" may be required

I'm running a 4-blade, 14.25 x 17 Renegade Offshore on my 200 HP Evinrude. 5300 rpm x 35 kts.
