Volvo Penta Composite Props

I have a VP D3-160 with a DPS-A stern drive fitted to my Valiant DR-750 RIB. I have X7 composite duoprops. I have now reached the end of my tether with replacing broken blades on numerous occasions and am now considering fitting aluminium props. VP have discontinued the composite props and the blades are very hard to come by. I would be interested to know if anyone else out there has had similar problems with these props. I just cannot believe that I keep hitting underwater obstructions on a, now, fairly regular basis!!!!

As I understand it composite props do on rare occasions have spontaneous failures.
Perhaps the dou props are under more stress. Does one prop fail more than the other?
Maybe that is the reason they are discontinuing them.

Could be why Mercruiser only offers stainless for their Bravo III

Thanks for the feedback folks. I have now decided to ?bite the bullett? and buy a set of aluminium props. Fingers crossed this will cure the problem!!!!
