I have my new prop and I want to put it on today, but all the boat shops are closed. I know i need to grease the prop shaft before I install the new one, but I don't have any prop grease. I do have a ton of marine wheel bearing grease though. Will this be ok to use or should I wait till I can get prop grease tomorrow?

Re: Quick prop grease question.

Hey there, in my opinion you could use any grease for now. Or try a Fleet Farm type of store. I'm sure you could find some there. I just installed a prop and didn't grease it at all. It's only going to be on for a week or two. When I pull it out of the water I'll grease it.

I just use 2-4-C and have never had an issue.
Any is better than none, and if its something you feel must be the proper grease, install it with grease you have now, then redo it later when you have the other.
