I am the proud new owner of a ETEC 60. My boat is a 16' AlumaWeld with a hydralift hull. I ran my friends Stiletto 19 pitch prop and I had a really slow hole shot. I am thinking more on the lines of a 17 pitch and have been looking at the Rogue. Any advice for the Rogue if the Stiletto 19 pitch was to much? Is the Rogue a good set up for me?

You only have a portion of the required information required.........

What rpms are you obtaining at WOT? I would not even begin to give advice until we know the rpms.

I did not have a tach or speedometer at the test run with the 19 pitch. I should have more details monday when I can completely set it up. I was kinda hoping for some Rogue advice, but I understand he need for some speed and tach info. I'll be back.

Yes we'll wait for rpm and speed.I can't be too specific but I would say you will likely end up with a 15 or 17" prop. I like the 60 over the 40 and 50 because its not a choked down version and it just sounds better to have a 240lb 60 than a 240lb 40.

My boat had a 40 and the 60 will be perfect I think. This is my first boat and the 89 johnson 40 on it had broken down 4 times on me and not let me get much use out of it. The Hyper Lift 16' aluminum boat it self I love, and the ETEC had great reviews. I am just in the hard spot of which prop to order and dont want to end up with the wrong one and not be happy after spending $5660 on the motor and $400 on a prop that is wrong. I am thinking 17" Rogue or Viper. Money is not a issue here on which to order. Which would you pros start with?

I have been reading alot today on 4 blade advantages and it mentions the improved hole shot and faster plane. The 3 blade Stiletto 19 pitch had a slow hole shot but felt nice at WOT.

Will a Rogue 19 pitch give the improved hole shop it advertised and retain the nice WOT that the Stilleto had?

imo a 19 is plain too much prop. Likely a 17 will work.run the 19 and see where the rpm is.It has appeared to me that aluminum boats of similar size/design can require different props. And can produce clearly different speeds If your boat is welded with a fairly uncluttered bottom it may do well speeds seem to run from about 29 to 34
on a typical boat.A 17 will likely produce a better hole shot without resorting to the 4 blade.and may increase speed if it can make rpm. The Rogue isn't likely to match the 3 blade for speed. The Solas Amita 4 blade at $100 will produce better hole shot, stay on plane with less throttle, handle better on plane and at the dock,
run smoother. It won't match the Stiletto for speed.

Stilleto 19" gave me 5,400 RPM at WOT with a full load in the boat. I have read that 5,750 is where my motor produces 60hp, the RPM range is 5,500-6,000. Looks like 17" should put me right where I need to be. Now should I do Rogue or Stiletto, decisions, decisions. I fish mostly on the Red River with 3 people in the boat, and occasionally a deer or hog loaded in the bottum.

From the applications I've seen I'm a little surprised at your rpm was as high as it was w the 19.
Seat of the pants I don't think thev 4 blade will match the 3 for speed but will kick butt on the hole shot and cruising with a load.

Re: ETEC 60 prop on a 16' v-hull alumaweld

My friend has a 17" Stiletto that I should have access to later this week. I am going to have a GPS and run the 17" and 19" Stiletto's with tach and MPH comparison. Probably some 0-30 MPH comparisons also. My boat is only 16' and the 60ETEC had me going what I thought was 37-40MPH with the 19" around 5,400RPM with a load.
My friend has a 60 ETEC on a heavy duty 16.5' home made 3/16" flat bottum aluminum and with his 19" Stiletto he is running 39MPH with GPS at 5,600RPM. I was expecting better speed than him with the HyperLift hull.

Re: ETEC 60 prop on a 16' v-hull alumaweld "3 props tried with specs"

Here are my results with 3 people, 2 batteries and 12 gallons of gas:

17" stiletto WOT 5900rpm at 35.5 MPH with GPS
19" stiletto WOT 5500rpm at 38 MPH
17" aluminum WOT 5900rpm at 33.5 MPH

The 17" had a slightly fast hole shot. Not enough to hardly notice. What do you think? I am leaning towards the 17 stiletto due to some times having a
4th person in the boat and a ice chest full of fish and beer.

Your speeds seem very good.
I think the motor will be happier with the 17 with an extra person.
DId we ever discuss motor height? the antivent plate just above the prop should be visable on plane.Usually ends up about an inch above trhe bottom.

I had read that before, my antivent plate was about 1" out of the water on plane. This motor has a 14 1/2" propellor that grips the water great and you can trim it way up and it never starts cavitating, just starts bouncing. I went cat fishing last night with 3 guys, ice chest of beer, ice chest of fish, and lots of jugs and bricks and it did good with the 17". I am still hitting 5900 RPM with a lot of weight, seems a ittle high but the motor states 5500-6000 RPM WOT range. I did like that 38MPH with the 19" stiletto.

I had a feeling your setup was pretty good from your speeds.
If you want to nitpick a little a 18"Stiletto might give you a little more speed
without losing too much hole shot.
