Hi Everyone

I'm new to the iboats forums with a question. My 1986 Yamaha 115hp is leaking oil near the prop. I started the engine today from it's winter rest and noticed a fair amount of smoke, thinking it was from the fogging in the engine. I ran it using a water clamp on the inlet and did not notice any oil leaking after shutting it down. I changed the lower unit's oil last fall and no oil was leaking near the filler screw or the lower unit larger screw. I put the engine in the up/trailer position for the day AND when I lowered it this evening, oil with some water started to drain from the prop. I was wondering if this might be a prop seal going bad or maybe an over service of lower gear oil ?? I bought the boat and engine last year so I don't have a good history of the engine. Any thoughts on this I would Greatly appreciate
Thanks

Usually this is just exhaust residue if you smell it it will likely smell gassy. If it is gear oil it will have the distinct gear oil smell.
