Hey guys, I need some help on this one!!! I have a 1990 16ft Vanguard Phantom (open bow ski boat) with a 1990 Mercury 115HP outboard. Does anyone know the original pitch size for this outboard??? When I purchased the boat a few years back, it had a high five 20 inch pitch prop. Boat goes roughly 47MPH (boat speedo, not verified by GPS) WOT of 5600RPM (which I believe is over revving the engine by a couple hundred RPM) I have the chance to purchase a used 22 inch pitch Laser II prop. What can I expect out of this prop or am I just wasting my time (and money) buying this prop??? If the laser 22"prop is not the right choice , What would be the ideal prop for my boat or should I just keep the high five and back off on the throttle a bit??? I have excellent holeshot but would like to get a few MPH faster. Thanks, I appreciate any info!!!
