Re: cork nozzle

Tugboats are the most common application for Kort nozzles as highly loaded propellers on slow moving vessels benefit the most.

The additional shrouding adds drag, however, and Kort nozzles lose their advantage over propellers at about ten knots (18,52 km/h).

Ayuh,....

Just how big of a Tugboat are you working on Brad,..??

Re: cork nozzle

What are you interested in a Kort nozzle for? They increase effeciency the most in in high bollard pull, displacement speed situations (i.e. tug boats & fishing trawlers), and just add drag in high speed applications (most outboard usage).

edited to say - I see I was posting at the same time as the previous comment.
