Hey fellas! Im running 3 blade 26p on my b-3. Its my first season with my new boat. Its a mariah shabah 180 230 hrs, 5.7l 350 mag ( boat is 98' motor is 95')
My wot rpm can very quickly climb to 5000, this is my second boat in 2 yrs so im still learning about inboards. It has smart tabs so she wont porpis and, and with that big b-3 there is little trimming involved to bring the bow up and from a standing start she rockets to top speed.
B-3 props are expensive so id like the advice from the pro's, i know every boat is different, etc etc but if i went up to a 27p 3 blade would that bring my rpm down just enough to hit that ideal 4400-4800 mark?
Thanks
Cory

The Volvo experts will be along but until then it would help to have gear ratio and speed at 5000.

Its a merc, b-3 gear ratio on the drive says 2.20 and because this thing is an 18' with a 350 mag inside, as a novice boat owner, i only ran top speed twice and ill have to say it made my butt puker a bit. Haha!
I hit 66-67 mph the first and 64mph on the second.
Without the smart tabs im imagining i would have experience chine walking, cause it felt like she wanted to.

Another experienced member has advised me that im right where i want to be and the fact im hitting 5k is due to prop ventilation. He replied after i opened this thread, and so far he's been spot on every question! Lol

I would simply back off the throttle a bit if it was me. fully loaded with people and gear you will be down a bit of RPM as you will be pushing more weight

Wow prop shopping is interesting. B-3xr's are a nice set. 4 blade rear 3 blade front.
Four by 4 also has a nice set competitively priced and with really good customer reviews.
I know the prop topic has been beaten to death, i should have an extra set. Im going to stick with the pitch ( except b-3xr's you need to lower it 1" to march standard b-3)
Has anyone tried the four by 4 brand on their b-3?
