Hi all
I am in the Uk and use my boat on the river (volvo aq171 and a 290 stern drive ) the other day just cruising there was a jolt and the boat started juddering at any speed over the tickover. Could I hve run through a dense patch of weed and wrapped it around the propeller ?, if the boat is moored and out of gear the engine revs freely and no judder, I have checked the engine mounts and seam ok?
many thanks
Andy

Yep, it is something else. Generally when you wrap weeds around the prop, it loses thrust and the engine will rev-up. Sometimes they also block the water intakes and the engine overheats.

Ayuh,..... 'n if ya pick up a prop fulla weeds, a quick jab into reverse, 'n a pump of the throttle will clear 'em off the prop,....
