I just restored a 1989 Playbouy Scottyboat 24' and it has a 50hp Force, finally got it running right. But it needs a bigger motor, the data plate on the console is not readable and i need to know what the max. hp motor that I can mount on the back of it legally. Thanks

Just a side note While you probably need more motor ; the speed difference from a sound 50 set up right and a 90
set up right is suprpisingly small. perhaps as much as 7 mph but could be as little a 3 mph speeds are all over the place.
What you gain is a less stressed motor if you run it at the 50s max speed. Keep in mind a 50 will use about 5 gph(gallons per hour) at wot(wide open throttle).
The 90 will use about 9 gph at wot.
If your looking for speed in a pontoon your in the wrong boat.We may be able to help you get more out of your setup.
Get us the year of the motor, prop size and lightly loaded wot rpm and gps speed
