I'm working on gathering items needed to install xp150 evinrude on my tri toon I have built and it is recommended to run twin steering cables or hydraulic steering which is alot more money than I'm looking to spend. My question is will my single cable system work seeing how the twin system is recommended for high performance boats running 50 mph or more and jumping wakes and so on. Has anyone ran the single cable on this much hp without having problems?

Hey there Digger, :D

You might have to work some of your magic this winter hunting up a good deal on a hydr. unit. You won't look back if you score one.

Yes I have been looking and digging for that deal on one. I just was kinda thinking about bolting it on for the end of the season and thinking about running the single cable seeing how it wouldn't take a beating on this boat compared to one that pretty much just has about two feet of the aft in the water.

I would love too but unfortunately the only internet I have is on my phone and this site will not allow me to upload pictures from my windows phone. When I get a upgrade I'll be returning to Droid and will get them upload.

It's has been a hard winter didn't get much done but the weather has finally broke showing signs of spring. IV been busy rounding up items for the ercoa. 1st I sold the 80 Johnson 115 and now have 1985 150 evinrude XP hanging with rebuilt carbs ,new water pump and bypassed vro . I'm upgrading to hydraulic steering. This should really get the ercoa moving good I'm hoping for the 40ish mark

Well one of these days I'll get another phone that will allow me to upload pictures because this windows phone won't.
it's the middle of April I took everything off the top of the deck got my evercoat skid no more floor coating on I am pleased with the looks of it.
motor is on all wired up,hydraulic steering is on and bleed , built a larger storage box just to the inside of the fence still have 3.5 foot of rear deck ,took the side doors out of fence to allow more front deck. Just a few other little things to go and will lake test.

Thanks Brian. As I was looking for pictures I was thinking I should have taken more pictures. This is a work in progress as time and money allows. I'll get it dressed up one of these days.

Well the water was a little rough in the wind today but we done a test run today of the 150xp evinrude with a 14.3/4 x 15 pitch 4 blade prop 43 mph at 6000 rpm with out being able to trim much because it would blow the prop. I'm very pleased with the 1st run now to tune everything in .

Brian I might before the season is over try to find a 17 pitch 4 blade or a 19 3blade just to see if I can hit 50 just so I can say I did lol

I doubt you'll se 50 without a 200. I don't know how much trim your at now, but bet there's another 3-4 mph out of it. Which is huge considering that's 8-9%,and would let you walk away from any other 150hp tritoon out there. I'd try a 16 4 blade or a 17 3 blade, and drop her down 2"-3". Aught to gain you 250-300 rpm and keep you up in rpms.
