I have the chance to put a 2007 four stroke Mercury 90 hp out board motor on my pontoon boat. I have a 2007 two stroke 90 hp.Mercury on it now. Is there an advantage to do this and what engine weighs the most and by how much.

You'll be losing some acceleration with the 4 stroke, and the 2 stroke will be 3-4 mph higher on top end. You'll pickup smoothness, quiet at low/medium speeds and some fuel mileage.

If you're doing some watersports/tubing, stick with the 2 stroke. If you seldom get over 3000 rpm's with a bunch of old people putting around, go with the 4 stroke. It all depends on your needs.

This may not be a cost effective swap, unless you have a place to sell your 2 stroke for a very good price.

I have a 2007 Merc 90 4 stroke on my toon and would never go back to the old school 2 stroke (Which is what you have now). Has plenty of power and starts at the flick of the key. I cruise at about 4400 RPM's at 20 MPH on a 20' toon. It is about 100 lbs heavier than the 2 stroke (303 Vs 400).

Rickd1boat and I agree. You'll love the 4 stroke.

Re: 2007 Mercury outboard engine.?

I want to buy a 17 ft center console power boat. My toon is way to big for me to handle by my self. Most people want my boat but they want a four stroke, so I'm trying to get the dealer to swap motors. I'll keep my two stroke and he can have the four stoke for the pontoon boat. The cost would equal out the same and we both will break even. But he's a hard nut to crack. Booth motors are 90 hp Mercs, same year. Both have low hours.
