I just purchased a Voyager 18 Fishing pontoon 05 model with a 50 HP ETec 2-stroke. Beautiful condition with matching trailer. Used approx 6 times. Fish finder; all safety equipment; trolling motor mounted forward; mooring cover; onboard charger; two batteries; stereo; livewell. Question is will the 36 lb trolling motor handle this boat or should I get larger one?

It should perform well except in very high winds.

I have used a 36 on my 19 footer many times with no problems. Like egliderider said you will be fine in all but the highest winds. I have a 55 that works much better but the 36 is certainly adequate.

Sounds like a nice boat, I hope you enjoy it very much.

Welcome to iboats.

A new troller is some pretty big dollars so I would run the one you have and see if you like it, as the others said, it should be fine.

At worst you sell it on craigs list and put that money to a new trolling motor.

I had to laugh at an 05 used 6 times. My wife and I put off buying a boat many years ago when we had the money to buy one but couldn't justify putting out $25K on something used less than 5 days a year.
