I was thinking of intalling a kicker motor rather than a trolling motor this year. Maybe I am using the word "kicker" incorrectly. I am looking to install a small motor (5-HPish) on the back of my toon. I currenly have a 24ft 1992 Monarch with a 90HP mercury, it is not currently set up at all for an additional motor in the back. There aren't to many reason why I would like to have this motor, but the main reason would be is if something would happen to my 90, i would like a back for "just in case". Yes I already know....be plan is to make sure my current motor is in great working order, and it is in great working order. But if I can install a small motor to the side somewhere and have it only hooked up for gas when I decide I would like to. I think there are a couple of people on here who have this set up....I just can't remember who or how they have done it.

***Note I should have done a little mor research, I notice a couple of other members with almost exact same situation as I have. I will use some of there ideas and just go from there, sorry for the additional post and have a good day, I will post pictures of what I do this summer. Thanks!

its a good idea i would love to have one on the back of my toon for just putting around like we do sometimes would sure save some gas over idleing my 175 all the time.

ok so for these kicker motors do you lock them straight and use your big motor to turn or is there some type of steering system.

I saw one mounted in the center of the boat. The guy put a seat over it so it wasn't in the way. It worked really great .he can turn on a dime. I also have a 90 Hp merc. What's your operating rpm's? My tack sits at 500 when the motor is off so I just don't want to blow it up by over reving it up.
