Hi, we are newbies to pontoons and took out our boat for the first time yesterday. The boat is a 2016 Qwest LS822 DS Bar Fishtail with a Honda 100 HP motor on it and has the standard two tubes. The boat ran beautifully with the exception of at full throttle it seemed the the prop was not taking a bite out of the water and the engine would rev up, and not be able to maintain full speed. Pulling the power back alleviates this problem, but we are limited to about 22-23 mph. Any ideas to what good be going on, and ways to possibly fix this. The engine was trimmed all the way in the down position. Thanks!!

Betting you have a setup issue that your dealer SHOULD be willing to take care of. I'd suggest you talk to them, but interested in how you make out.

It's not uncommon for toons to have odd (different) issues with motor height and prop style. What you described sounds like the prop is ventilating, it's not hard to make the needed changes to stop it, lowering the motor is the easy option, but different props and other things can be done too.

Was everyone sitting up front so the bow was heavily weighted and the stern became so high the prop ventilated? Was the trim set too high? Did anyone walk back to actually "see" what was happening? And does the problem go away when there is more weight in the back?

Test toon with weight evenly distributed on deck with OB sitting at 90?, if still ventilates lower OB tad down till ventilation stops. Make a prop hub slip test, probably on it's way to become fully kaputt and ventilating. Post max wot revs achieved as loaded.

Happy Boating
