Kinda confused as to how and why the gas tank cap has a vent which you open or close by screwing/unscrewing the vent. The gas tank is in the engine pod down in the water too so it would seem like water would enter the vent, but obviously it cant be closed while running otherwise there's no venting. Anyone have any knowledge of these.....?

so your saying your portable fuel tank is under water?

your engine pod should be dry

No, the engine pod is always wet... Its not "submerged" per say but the boats fuel tank is sitting nestled in the pod which is always running in the water like a boat hull. Not a potable tank either. And the fuel tank filler neck is right in front of the outboard motor, not up high.

Mine is the same way. In a pod, gets splashed, has a screw to open vent and never see any water in the engine's fuel water separator filter.

I agree, seems weird that they would do that and not run a separate tank vent through a hose from the tank but that is how they do it.
