So we hear a lot of people needing advice on which prop will work best for their pontoon boat, much advice is given, but we don't hear many success stories. Let's start a list to use as a database for all of us to use as a guide. List your boat make/size, motor make/size, prop diameter and pitch, how you feel it performs (normal cruising, tube pulling, etc.) and any other info you would like to volunteer (such as how much furniture is on board, gas tank size, WOT rpm's, etc). Perhaps info on other props you've used in the past and how they performed for you.
Here's mine:
1988 Godfrey Aqua Patio 24'
1990 Johnson 115
13.25 x 17 (the only one I have had with this engine)
3 couches, 1 flip-flop seat, 2 batteries (in rear), 29 gal gas tank, 6 gal spare gas tank (usually keep 4 gal in it)
8hp Mariner kicker motor mounted on back next to main engine
1 Bimini top
Top speed with one person: 23 mph
Rated for 5500 rpm @WOT. This prop achieves around 5300 rpm's
I feel that the motor lugs even with just one person. I would like to try different props, maybe find a local prop shop and try some.
This list/database may help some people choose a prop that best suits them.
