ordered a 15# river anchor and when I got it I think it's a litte over kill. How light an anchor could I have gone to on a slow moving river and got by?

Sounds HUGE to me for the boat in your sig line. I use a 3.5# Grapnel for my 14' jon boat, and have a 5# navy that I don't use often. I fish below the Hoover Dam and the current is usually pretty slow.

Yeah, weight is a factor in my boat and when I got the anchor 15# felt like a ton. LOL

Bought a 8# mushroom anchor and tried it to day. Through it in the river and it worked great. Had Renee haul it up because she lives in the bow, said she would have never been able to haul up the 15#er.
