I need to clean up some Bostik Inflatable Boat Adhesive (polychloroprene adhesive) from my Achilles hypalon boat. Any idea what generic solvent to use? West Marine doesn't carry the Bostik M 501 Cleaner/Thinner that the label recommends.
Turns out tuolene is the appropriate solvent. Unfortunately, you can't buy it in California anymore. I ended up using "Goo Gone" with reasonable success. I assume it will not harm the hypalon material.
Harming fabric is directly proportional on product used, how much product is used and rubbed abussed, supposedly Hypalon holds better cleaning punishment than PVC. Just apply enough product to clean properly, don't abuse though.
