I didn't see a thread like this and I thought it would be beneficial for many to post the deals we may come across. Might be a great thread to get the opinions of others what they may think. If you post a used listing, please specify what area it's located at

I'm currently looking at the two SIB's below, what do you all think of them?

The first one is a Zodiac wooden fllor sib, second is a slat floor sib, stay away from it, both are first entry tender sibs. If you want to have real boating fun buy any wooden or alum floor sib between 320-350 meter. Those 270-285 are real basic water toys. Invest a little more and better going for a larger size.

Happy Boating

You left out some much needed information. Like , What type of water you plan on using the boat in. What type of boating you actually plan to do. What type of boat are you upgrading from? Is this also going to be a fishing platform? Is the boat going to be powered? Do you already have the outboard? Until you can answer the basic questions nobody can really help you. We don't have enough information

Thanks, I didn't realize the 270 had slats, that's a real bummer. My current boat (Intex Mariner 4) has those and that's what I'm trying to get away from. Seems like I have to spend approx. $1000 to get a solid floor sib

Sorry, I should have mentioned all that. The boat will only be used in freshwater on very small lakes, I never fish when it's rough and choppy. The boat will only be used for going from one spot to another to fish but will mostly be stationary while fishing, no trolling. I'm currently using the Intex Mariner 4 w/motor mount combined with a Minn Kota C2 50, no aftermarket solid floor. The boat will only be used for fishing, ideally I would like to stand at times. It will be powered by either a Minn Kota C2 50 or Evinrude 6hp, I already have both on hand. Thanks for all your help, it's much appreciated. Being a student and all, I can only afford so much but I also love fishing every weekend.

One you may not have looked at yet is the sea eagle 124smb. I was dead set on a mariner but after comparing intexs customer service to sea eagles I bought one of these used with a solid floor in a complete kit for $600 shipped and could not be happier. I've spoken with sea eagle 4 times with questions and have got a real live English speaking and very helpful individual each time. We have 6 trip s in ours and I love it. I power ours with an endurance maxx c2 45lb Minn kota which moves 2 adults 3 kids and all our fishing gear at 3.8 on the water as indicated by Garmin. No speed demon but its fast enough. If you look up Fishing Rx on YouTube there's a guy with this boat who fishes for coho salmon in the northern pacific set up with a downrigger and a torqeedo. Sea eagle has a 3 year warranty and 6 month buyback guarantee as long as you purchase a boat straight from there website. I mounted a cabelas elite seat on the back and 2 cheap boat seats on top of my marine cooler in the front and it works well. Its a PVC boat, but has proven reliable so far. Might be an option to consider

In a portable boat used for fishing small lakes with a small motor, there is actually an advantage to using the little 8 to 9 foot inflatable. They set up quicker and are lighter to handle. I would not consider them water toys but rather a wise investment.

We use 9 and 10 ft inflatables with our camper which are ideal for our purposes. A larger boat would be nice out on the water, but the extra weight and complexity are not worth the bother.
